Important Notice – We No Longer Fit Customer Bought Parts
Please note that we can no longer accept and fit parts that have been purchased and brought in by customers.
Whilst this has been something we have traditionally done, in respect of providing the highest quality of workmanship for our customers, we have made the decision to discontinue this service
If a workshop fits a customer-supplied part correctly, they are legally declaring it is fit for purpose and as such are legally responsible for it.
Why We No Longer Fit Customer Parts
As a business and like many other garages across the UK, we have made the decision to no longer fit parts supplied by customers – the key reason for this is that we strive to provide the best service possible, fitting a part that is cheap, counterfeit or sub-standard can result in poor vehicle performance, premature breakdown and even cause an accident.
As we cannot verify where the part was bought from, we cannot immediately recognise whether or not the part is of the standard required. As cataloguing accuracy is very low for car parts bought online, potential issues such as date and specification changes can be missed.
The need to invest this time to check and verify the source of each part would result in significant time costs for our technicians, negating the need for this allows us to keep our prices competitive for customers.
As an auto garage, we have a responsibility to ensure that every car that leaves our garage does so in safe working order, this change reflects our care for the protection of our customers, their vehicles and other road users.
The Dangers of Sub Standard Car Parts
The counterfeit car part industry is worth billions worldwide, with consumables like filters and brake pads being some of the most faked parts. These parts are often available online from auction websites, online forums and even find themselves available at high profile retailers in some cases.
As well as being potentially dangerous, these parts (unlike manufacturer supplied parts) rarely come with a guarantee. Meaning when they do inevitably fail, you have no way of reclaiming your money from the seller – you may also find that sub-standard car parts cause damage to other parts of your car.
